About Orono

Orono is located on the northern end of Lake Minnetonka and bills itself as the “Lakeshore City.”  It was founded in 1889 as lots of tourists came from all over to rest and have fun on Lake Minnetonka. In 1906, an amusement park was built on Big Island to keep people visiting the area. As such, Orono was the perfect location for a residential community.
