About Edina

Edina is located just south of the Twin Cities metro area in Hennepin County. It started out as part of Richfield Township. As more immigrants settled in the area, they gathered together to discuss forming a new village and separating from Richfield Township. The notion was approved and they began the work of transitioning to a new village. It’s interesting to note, however, that there was a great deal of heated debate over the new name whether to call it Edina, Hennepin Park, or Westfield. Obviously Edina was their final choice.

Today, Edina is a flourishing community with easy access to the Twin Cities via major highways. It boasts more than 1500 acres of recreational land used for parks, basketball, softball diamonds, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. Edina also features 10 arts, community, and recreation facilities.
